What is the best part of your job with Clark County School District?
I enjoy working within the Clark County School District (CCSD) because of the team work that is involved when working with students. I am involved with school staff, students, their families and community agencies. I have chosen to work with CCSD for the past 18 years, because I feel that the school district continues to do great things with the limited resources we have. In the past, a public school’s responsibility was to educate children in academics. Today, public schools support students as they grow socially and emotionally, learn responsibility, and develop into caring and productive individuals. I love my job because it provides an opportunity for me to work with students and parents to help them become the best they can be.

What do you love about living in Clark County?
I love the accessibility of entertainment, shopping, outdoor activities, schools, family activities and restaurants. We also have a large number of parks, bike trails, recreation centers and pet-friendly services. We are perfectly positioned for easy driving access to major cities in nearby states, but there is no need to travel far since there is always something to do and see in this 24 hour city! There are many nice neighborhoods with nearby businesses that are new and clean, and the diversity of people from all over the world/country makes Clark County a fresh and fascinating place to live.

How would you describe the Wraparound Services Department?
For a department that is not very large, I feel the Wraparound Services Department is doing amazing things. As school social workers, we help students and families address a wide variety of challenges including living in poverty, truancy, bullying issues, students exposed to trauma, and mental health concerns. We also work closely with students with special needs and their families. I appreciate the freedom to provide a variety of interventions and services to promote success for students. I love that my endeavors at work are supported by my department which allows me to continue to learn and grow as an individual. I feel that the Wraparound Services Department has a common goal: to support, nurture and educate all children in Clark County School District.
