I’m a native of Las Vegas and I attended public schools here in the Clark County School District for my K-12 education. After graduating from Vo-Tech High School which is now known as the Southeast Career and Technical Academy I went on to the University of Nevada Reno and earned a degree in accounting.
My family came to Las Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s from Arkansas and Mississippi and we have been here ever since. People from all over the world bring positivity to our city. I’ve been taught by great teachers from Wyoming, New York, and even Austria just to name a few places. I’m honored to serve as an ambassador of Las Vegas and go out across the world to find the best educators for the students in my hometown.
What is your favorite school memory?
There are so many positive memories to choose from, but the one that sticks out at this present moment took place in fourth grade in Mrs. Lawrence’s class at Walter Bracken Elementary. We decorated our class like Egypt and we wrapped one of my classmates like a mummy! It was tons of fun and a memorable week of school for me and my friends.
